Choosing who to see when starting your therapy journey can be one of the most challenging steps. I hope to make this a little bit easier by sharing a few things about myself. As a master’s intern I’m in the final year of my Master of Counselling degree. I’m passionate about mental health equity and giving back to the community. I practice from an attachment lens, looking at the relationships that have shaped us into the individuals we are. My areas of focus are anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, relationships, and caregiving. I work with individual adults, seniors, couples, and adolescents. I lean towards modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), the Gottman Method, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Mindfulness.
Alongside choosing who you would like to work with, is the courage and vulnerability it can take to dive into life’s unwanted emotions and/or experiences. I view the therapeutic relationship as something that must be built upon trust, understanding, and integrity. Working with clients is therefore a collaborative experience, where I am learning just as much from you and your unique experiences as I hope for you to take away from our counselling work together. Outside of being an intern therapist, here are a few things about me:
- My hobbies include knitting, film photography, and sewing. I like to spend my free time
trying new DIY’s and being creative. - I care about the environment and taking part in conversations surrounding climate
resiliency. - I’m an avid thrifter and enjoy shopping second-hand.
