From the moment you walk in to check in for your appointment to the moment you leave our office and re-enter your life, our goal is to provide excellent service and help you live your life to it’s potential as soon as possible.
Checking in for your appointment may actually mean sitting down for a bit in our waiting area. We do not have a receptionist full time so there will be times that you wait for a therapist to assist you. If they are in a session, please help yourself to a beverage, have a seat in our waiting area and pick up something to read. Someone will be with you as soon as possible.
The initial appointment is generally the most anxiety provoking as everything is a mystery. During the initial intake your therapist will review informed consent and confidentiality with you. After the paperwork is out of the way you will have the opportunity to explain what is bringing you into therapy. Once you’ve explained what led you to decide you wanted to access therapy we will then begin to explore your history in more detail. At that point the therapist will have a number of specific areas they want to explore with you.
The session will wrap up with a discussion of your goals, what you want to achieve from therapy, and a discussion of your therapist’s ideas of a treatment plan for you. Generally, all of this information can be gathered in a 50 minute session. If for some reason it is not, we will ensure that we gather any further information in your second session You will be given an opportunity to ask questions of your therapist before the session ends.
Your therapist will escort you to the front desk where your next appointment will be booked. Then you will be on your way to solving the problems that have been tripping you up.
